Assuming AGI becomes widely available, what research remains relevant?

Forget if Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) will happen. Let’s ask the harder question:
How do we build research that stays relevant after AGI arrives?

Rather than debate timelines or hype, P-AGI calls on scientists, engineers, and thinkers to future-proof their work for a world where general-purpose AI systems are everywhere.

  • How scientific discovery changes when machines generate knowledge
  • How to ensure trust and oversight in autonomous systems
  • How to scale AI without scaling energy costs
  • How humans stay essential in an increasingly automated world

P-AGI is more than a workshop—it’s a forum to start this critical conversation. We’re bringing together some of the most forward-thinking voices in AI to explore the research agendas that will matter if and when powerful general-purpose systems become pervasive. Together with your contributions, we’ll tackle questions like:

  • 🧠 What are the limits of reasoning-capable systems?
With Noam Brown (OpenAI, co-creator of o1)
  • 🔬 How will scientific discovery evolve?
With Jeff Clune and Francesco Locatello, on machine-driven research, open-ended learning, and causality
  • 🤖 How will intelligent systems operate in the real world?
With Daniela Rus, on autonomous, reconfigurable, and energy-efficient robotics
  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 What role will humans play?
With Been Kim, on human-centered, interpretable AI collaboration
